Department of Civil Engineering

We offer a three-year full time diploma programme in Civil Engineering with an intake of 30 students. In addition, the department admits 20% lateral entry students. The faculties in the department are committed, motivated and well equipped to offer the best teaching to the students. The department includes significant areas such as Structural engineering, Surveying, Construction practice, Hydraulics, Environmental engineering and Transportation engineering.

The infrastructure facilities in the department facilitate effective teaching-learning process. Sophisticated instruments are available in laboratories such as, Total Station, GPS etc. Students are being exposed to latest development in construction technology and trained to overcome the practical difficulties. They are given hands-on training in AutoCAD and STAAD.pro Microsoft Project software related to Civil Engineering. The department is frequently arranging Guest lectures in emerging topics of Civil Engineering by Inviting experts from Engineering colleges, Govt. departments and practicing Engineers. The industrial visits are being arranged relevant to the subjects concerned. In plant training to all students in PWD and Private Construction Companies are being arranged during their vacations. In addition to academic works, the repairs and maintenance of all the buildings are being carried out by the Civil Engineering Department staff members.

This course comprises of both theory and practical knowledge. We provide exposure to the students in the form of workshops, symposiums, survey camp, continuing education programme (CIICP) and internships to meet current trends and technologies. Practical knowledge is provided by visiting lifeline infrastructure systems that includes construction sites, apartment buildings, water/sewage treatment plants, asphalt hot mix and ready mix plants, railway yards, bridges and dams. The Department ensures a dynamic process of learning that emphasizes teamwork and problem-solving skills. Civil Engineering has the multi-dimensional sphere in the public sector from municipal to national government, and in the private sector from individual homeowners to international companies. The department is actively involved in consultancy service in the area of Material Testing.
